We thought a little insight to BumbleBee might be worth sharing as we are very excited and proud of our cider. We hope this will help you engage with the brand and make you as enthusiastic about it as we are.

The Things That Are Most Important To Us

Our 4 aims are simple:

Make top notch cider using the best cider apples the West Country has to offer.

Support British farmers & apple growers by never owning a tree.

Help reverse the population decline of apple blossoms key pollinator: BUMBLEBEES!

Have a laugh along the way.

The Boys

Back in 2012, James & Tim (a.k.a. the BumbleBee Boys) escaped the London rat-race and headed West, lured by the promise of the finest cider apples in England. It was obvious their favourite drink was yet to go through the transformation craft beer had. With so many big brands disguised as ‘craft cider’ they decided a fresh face was needed to start properly reconnecting people with where it’s all supposed to begin – the apples!

They also wanted their new venture to have an environmental ethos and dedicated their brew to the little furry dudes that are chief pollinators of apple blossom: bumblebees. They are responsible for the Somerset bittersweet cider apple varieties that makes our taste profile so scrumptious!

The Cider:

Cider apples have one purpose – to make cider! They have too many tannins for eating and cooking but that is what gives the cider its classic earthy quality. We let the natural yeasts from the apple skins turn the juice to cider base and then the true art comes in with the blending.

The Bumblebees:

Unlike their well know friends, the honey bees, bumblebees do not make honey, are not farmed and have very different pressures as a result. The UK has 24 species and population decile is a serious problem due to habitat loss and pesticides. They have an amazing work ethic working much longer hours than other bee species and are majorly essential for pollination. So we do what we can through education, donation and fundraising all in support of the amazing

Bumblebee Conservation Trust.

So there you have it. A brief encounter with BumbleBee. Continuing to spread the joy.
